Low Frequencies
Apply light pressure with the floating diaphragm. (Bell mode)
High Frequencies
Apply firm pressure with the floating diaphragm. (Diaphragm mode)
Traditional Bell
Rotate the chestpiece for low frequencies via a fixed 'Bell'.

Overall Rating Bought as a 1st year medical student as it was recommended by the university. Good sound quality and robust construction, has survived being carried about in my bag almost daily for the last 3 years and you can barely tell it's been used! Obviously you'll get better sound quality with one of Littmann's more expensive models but for anyone looking for a very good stethoscope at a reasonable price I'd strongly suggest buying this. As an added bonus, the engraving service is great as you can bet that at least a dozen other doctors/students you're working with have the exact same one in the exact same colour!
