Q. "DO THE RDGS TAKEN IN THE ABOVE INSTRUMENT AGREE WITHIN ACCEPTABLE LIMITS WITH THOSE TAKEN IN THE CONVENTIONAL INSTRUMENTS? "
A. "Omron are a renowned manufacturer of blood pressure equipment and are extremely well known amongst health professionals and private consumers. Most models will have been approved and reviewed by the British Society of Hypertension and it will indicate on the model listed whether it has been validated by the European society of Hypertension, the AAMI etc. If the device has been validated to an A/A rating, this will mean the reading of both the systolic and diastolic is within 5 millimeters of mercury of the true reading when going through clinical trial. If it is A/B it will be 5 mmhg for the top reading and 10 mmhg for the bottom, B/B then 10 mmhg / 10mmhg etc. Obviously, a conventional instrument requires a degree of objectivity from the practitioner using it - electronic models will list as an exact measurement of mmhg - for example 123/78.
