Exempt Rating
Certain products we supply may be available "VAT Free" (E rated) depending on your status as an individual or charity, and the nature of the product.
As an indication, products where you see the logo -
are generally accepted for VAT exemption for personal use where the item
is solely used to treat a disability or where the
funds to purchase these items come from a "charitable source".
Other items without the logo may be acceptable for exemption when the
funds come from a charitable source - please contact us for details
Qualifying Products
Products available for exemption include aids designed or modified solely for use by people with a disability, as well as products designed for the care or treatment of incontinence.
Such products are only available at zero-rate VAT when purchased directly by an individual for their personal use, or when purchased by a registered charity for use by the disabled person.
In order for us to meet "yours and our" obligations to Customs & Excise,
and in order to avoid paying VAT you will be required to sign a simple declaration form that you are eligible to receive
goods with the VAT exempt from payment. Please note we are only able to
exempt VAT from the actual goods, all delivery charges will attract VAT as
normal.
On
checkout you will then need to tick the following option to inform us that
we are awaiting a VAT exemption form. You may then carry on checking out
as normal with your credit card details. We will then wait before
processing any payment until we receive the VAT exemption form from you -
in order that we may charge you correct VAT amounts. This does however
mean that there may be a slight delay in dispatching your order as the
item cannot be shipped until we receive your declaration. If there are any
queries we will contact you by telephone or email, or you may contact us free phone
on 0800 804 6447. Claiming VAT
is now very easy and we are one of the first UK medical companies to
accept a totally electronic submission. When you get to the checkout of
our e-commerce site you will be given the option to apply for exemption.
You will only be given the option to apply if there are one or
more VAT exempt items in your shopping basket. By clicking continue,
you will now be presented with an electronic form to complete. You
need to fill this out and by typing your initials and surname you are
legally signing the document. All the wording comes from United Kingdom
customs and excise. Although this wording refers to disabled, you do not
have to be registered disabled or have a note from your doctor! The
important thing is that the item is being used for personal use and not
for use in an institution or you are reselling the goods. Reasons for
purchasing could be asthma (Nebulisers) or arthritis (mobility aids) etc.
Once you have completed this form click
continue - this will take you back to the checkout and you will be able to
see that "VAT exemption has been claimed". Choose your payment details, on
the final confirmation before sending your order you will be able to check
the order totals and VAT status on each product. Please note there will
still be VAT to pay on the carriage part of the order.
Once you complete your order you are done! You
do not have to send us any hard copy forms etc. The whole declaration is
binding online. Footnote:
*1 Please note - Due to recent government legislation we cannot supply care homes or
certain other
businesses with VAT exemption. For more information on recent developments
