This is a must have bag for home visits!
Having recently purchased one of the Elite Doctor's Bags, I felt compelled to write a review regarding just how excellent this bag is.

I don't think either the photos or description does this bag justice and I was very pleased when I removed it from the box and noticed the quality and features.

I work across two practices which are not in the best areas . As a result I am conscious of ensuring I don't portray the image of a target. I didn't want a traditional home visit black case which could be easily recognisable as a 'Doctor on Call'. I wanted a discrete looking bag which I could put over my shoulder if required like a small rucksack and would not draw attention to myself. I have a couple of day style rucksacks which I could have used but all your kit ends up in the bottom of the bag and you are ferreting around in front of the patient which doesn't look very professional.

I looked at camera style bags which do have divisions inside them but they are designed for lenses etc. and not medical kit. I then came across the Elite bag and my problems were solved.

The quality of this bag is exceptional. The carry handle is strong and chunky. The material is also quality and it has a built in 'frame' to keep the bag in shape. The features of this bag are more than can be seen in the photos. The front flap pocket is secured with two Velcro discs and is a single pocket suitable for a few papers, lightweight jacket, gloves or even a small umbrella. Behind this is the first zipped pocket which folds forward and provides three small flapped pouches and some further storage. On the back of the bag is another zipped pouch which is divided into three areas. The outer two are designed for paperwork and the inner most pouch has a further Velcro strap and would easily contain a slim laptop or tablet.

Finally is the main compartment. This fully unzips revealing the main equipment storage area. The lid is split into two zipped mesh pockets, ideal for storing sample bags, gloves, swabs etc. Behind this is another pocket with a fully removable clipboard coated in the same material as the bag. The main equipment area has four clear zipped pouches with removal padded Velcro dividers and a further zipped ampoule pouch which is lined in silver metallic material and even comes with it's own blue ice pack to keep the contents cool.

Once fully loaded and zipped up, the bag looks very discrete. You can get a lot in this bag and, once it's over your shoulder, nobody would ever think it was full of medical kit.

I would be more than happy to recommend this bag for home visits. You can confidently enter tower blocks or maisonette blocks and not feel that you look conspicuous when going up stairs or walking along passageways.

I believe this bag will last quite some time and I can now keep my black case in the boot of the car for additional kit. This bag would also make a fantastic gift for either a GP, Advanced Practitioner, District Nurse or any other HCP who does home visits.

Would highly recommend this bag for GP's
I really like this bag and would recommend for GP work. I can't comment on other uses.

      Appearance- smart, looks professional.

Quality- apart from a few very minor unprimed threads which were easily dealt with, excellent finish. I've had no fraying/zip problems after 3 months of heavy use. The shoulder strap is well padded and of good width/quality for comfortable carrying.

Size-big enough to fit all your basic GP equipment, including BP cuff, oto/oroscope, thermometer, tendon hammer, tuning fork, pulse oximeter, neurotips, tape measure, small bag of gloves and lube, stethoscope, a paeds and adult BNF, patient notes, lots of pens. I work at multiple urban surgeries, so always rely on my own kit. I can get everything I need in here, tho note that I don't carry any drugs. I got rid of most of the internal zipped black bags as most kit comes with its own case/pouch anyway.

Internal-lots of well made internal pockets to store smaller objects. Plenty of space for A4 papers or a lightweight laptop. The internal bags are secured onto a Velcro strip so they don't shift when you rotate the bag.

Practicality-I like this bag as during a Locum surgery I can open it up and see all my kit at a glance, no rummaging around. Also, I can keep all my kit in main compartment even during a surgery, it acts like a kit tray so I don't end up leaving stuff behind scattered on the desk.

Cons- if you're a Gp based in one practice who travels very light to home visits, you may find this too bulky for your minimal HV equipment. I'm a slender 5'10" however and have no problems walking to my home visits fully loaded. It's the kit that makes it heavy, not the bag itself.

      good value
Nice bag, very comfortable, a lot of space, but still don´t weigh too much. Good value for good price. Comes with sharps disposal container.

I didn´t have problems with the zips (no jam), still I think it could come with the better quality of zips (it feels a little loose).

Nevertheless, nice product, I am happy with it.

A good bag for home visits and those who need different carrying options and to better organised!
As a GP who does his home visits on a motorbike with no luggage space I was looking for a bag that I could carry on my shoulders. I was not too keen on the paramedic/emergency bags that seemed to be the only option until I found this.

First came across it from two colleagues who had bought this exact model. Having had a look first hand at it and the options I knew this would be good for me. Ample space for the essentials (medical equipment & paper/envelopes etc). It could do with a little more space for equipment as it does get cramped but it’s easy to go overboard with equipment that you really don't need on a home visit.. As such I would not recommend it for carrying a full set of equipment between surgeries such as the locuming doctor unless they knew there would be provision of otoscopes/BP cuffs/thermometer etc (these take up a fair amount of space). Good to keep yourself organised. No more rummaging in a deep dark bag for something in front.

Build quality is good, tough nylon, chunky zips, good velco fastenings and clips for bag straps. Shoulder straps aren’t going to win awards for comfort (built for versatility and to be hidden) but this isn’t a bag you would go hiking in… It does the job on the back of a motorbike and having worn it once on a walking visit was not a problem and that was 30mins of walking.

The only negative I would say was that the first bag I received had a dodgy zip (one corner oversewn) that caused it to jam. Medisave were great sending a replacement bag out without waiting for the first to be returned. The second bag unfortunately had a Velcro patch peeling off (stitches missing) and again medisave were great in sending a replacement out without waiting for the refund. All in all third bag was a charm. I would not let this put you off as I said before I know of two other GPs who have this bag and had no problem.. Maybe just a bad batch..

Couldn’t fault Medisave for their excellent service… thank you.
