The Nike Air Zoom Pulse is a Shoe Made For Medical Professionals

Nike is known for creating shoes and trainers for runners, basketball players, football players and a wide range of activities. But for their latest range, it's all about the unsung heroes working in hospitals. The new range dubbed 'Air Zoom Pulse' is aimed towards the medical workers facing a variety of challenges on their 12 hour+ shifts, primarily being the comfort and support. Made with the help of OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital, the shoe features an easy slip on and off design that's a must, especially in life or death situations. The designers of the Air Zoom Pulse found that Nurses for example, walk approximately four to five miles and sit for less than half an hour during the course of a 12 hour shift. The design of the shoe tackles those kind of challenges with simplicity in mind.

Key Design Elements of the Air Zoom Pulse

  • The laceless upper features a protective PU-coated synthetic vamp for easy cleaning against spillages
  • An elastic strap keeps the heel securely contained, and allows for flexible and easy one-handed entry
  • The durable, full-rubber outsole incorporates a water-dispersive traction pattern
  • The subtle Asterix logo references Nike's company mission and the belief that "If you have a body, you are an athlete."
The designs themselves are vastly different as they been created by patients of the hospital. You can see them below:
