From medical use tourniquets to help gain IV access for intravenous fluids or medication (commonly known as ‘quick release tourniquets’) to the control of catastrophic bleeding from major trauma injuries to limbs - these are generally known as CAT Tourniquets. The Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) is used for major trauma injury or an arterial bleed.
