Ten Second Triage Tools

In April 2023, the NHS introduced the Ten Second Triage (TST) that is designed to be quick, simple and effective at prioritising large numbers of casualties. It allows for rapid focus on immediately providing lifesaving interventions (LSI). These LSI include control of severe bleeding and opening of the airway, which are known to be the key requirements to maximise patient survival in the early stages of injury.

The Ten Second Triage (TST) tools are intended to be used by anyone responding to major incidents providing care to casualties prior to the arrival of the NHS clinical response. Ideal to assist non-medical professionals like Police officers, Firefighters and Coastguards in effectively triaging mass casualties during significant incidents.

The Ten Second Triage (TST) have undergone extensive field testing with a wide range of responders using clinical skillsets and experience.
