What Is The SAM IO Driver?

The SAM IO driver is a manual intraosseous access system which is used by drilling into the bone which enables the delivery of fluids and medication directly into the bone marrow through a catheter.

This is used when traditional IV lines are delayed or unable to be used in a medical emergency.

  • Battery-free operation
  • Designed for precise and controlled IO application
  • Reusable - wipe clean for ready next use
  • Lightweight and durable
  • Compact design - ideal for keeping in bags and cases
  • No hidden costs

How Is It Used?

The SAM IO driver is used by firstly installing one of the specific needles onto the driver which includes both the boring tool and needle catheter.

The Driver can then be used to drill into the bone where the medicine will be delivered by pumping the handle mechanism, the SAM IO driver is suitable for insertion in:

  • Proximal tibia (adults)
  • Humeral head (adults)
  • Distal tibia (paediatrics only)

The drill section of the needle can then be removed and the catheter will remain allowing the administration of medicine and liquids.

The SAM IO Adapter

The SAM IO needle adapter allows you to use other intraosseous needles along side the Sam Medical needles. This allows for a more flexible and cost effective way to use the SAM IO.

This also provides a seamless integration with existing equipment, allowing you to use up any old needle stocks from your current IO needle inventory.
