Aquacel Extra Post-op Dressing 4cm x 30cm

Aquacel Ag+ Extra combines two powerful healing technologies, MORE THAN SILVER and Hydrofibre. Hydrofibre forms a cohesive gel that absorbs and retains exudate, debris, microorganisms and disrupts biofilm.

MORE THAN SILVER is made up from BEC, EDTA and IONIC SILVER. BEC reduces the surface tension of biofilms to enhance anti-biofilm performance. EDTA removes the metal ions that hold EPS together, exposing microorganisms to the antimicrobial effects of the ionic silver. IONIC SILVER ensures that exposed bacteria are killed.

Biofilm is present in 78% of hard-to-heal wounds and is a primary barrier to healing. Biofilms delay wound healing, provide tolerance to antimicrobial agents, and can result in persistent infections and inflammation. Exudate and slough can allow biofilm to develop. This dressing is designed to combat Biofilm.
