Decubitus Trainer

With this decubitus trainer, nurses and medical students can learn about professional assessment, wound care, and bandaging techniques for treating various stages of decubitus ulcers.

The trainer's material is flexible and helps provide realistic training in changing and applying dressings and bandages.

The model shows four grades of decubitus ulcers

• The grade 1 decubitus is on the right greater trochanter - red, but the skin is still intact
• The grade 2 decubitus is on the right buttock - Partial skin loss, outer skin shows signs of damage which extends into the dermis
• The grade 3 decubitus is on the left buttock - loss of all layers of skin, damage to the subcutaneous tissue, and black colouration in the wound area
• The grade 4 decubitus is on the left greater trochanter - all skin layers and muscle fascia have been destroyed, necrotic areas are black, muscle and bone areas below this layer are also affected, and tendons, ligaments or joint structures may also be affected
