An accurate and easy to use WiseBatch single use strip test to determine whether a powder contains fentanyl.

Each pack comes with a QR code which will take the user to an app with clear step by step instructions on how to use the test or click here to access these instructions.

With this strip and a few minutes you can find out if your drug contains fentanyl.

Will show a positive test result if the sample contains any one of a range of more than 20 different fentanyl variants.

Fentanyl test strips are an important harm reduction tool, especially at this early stage where heroin may or may not contain fentanyl, and there is unlikely to be widespread contamination of the environment, clothing, and hands, because they get the message out, provide a focus for discussion, and can alert people to added risk.

But it is important for people to be aware that:

  • This is only a test for fentanyl, it will not show positive for other powerful sedatives that can cause overdose
  • A positive test does not tell you how much fentanyl is in your drugs
  • Rapid tests are not perfect, and false negatives do occur

It is much safer to use drugs:

  • With someone else who can assist if you overdose
  • To have naloxone to hand; and to
  • Use in turn, so that you don't risk all going over together.

This type of test is called a lateral flow immunoassay, and works like the reverse of a covid or pregnancy test. The strip is pre-loaded with 'control particles' and when you dip it into your sample, the water carries these particles along with the drug towards the testing lines. If there's no fentanyl the control particles will bind to the testing line, causing it to become visible, but if there is then the fentanyl will bind instead and the line won't appear.

Please note that the powerful synthetic opioids known as nitazines that have been found in some heroin samples in the UK, and caused overdose deaths are not fentanyl related, and so will not produce a positive test result with this test strip.
